After several years of research and development, Cellulopack innovated and created a unique process allowing the application of an OK-Compost film to high-density molded cellulose trays.
This innovation makes the trays waterproof and greaseproof for up to 10 days.
In 2016, Cellulopack filed a patent (PATENT No. 14 57854) and launched the first range of compostable and recyclable molded cellulose trays dedicated to collective catering. A complete range that meets the requirements of central kitchens; sealing, cold storage, reheating in traditional ovens or microwaves, rigidity, and more.
Compliance with the 4 compostability criteria of the EN 13-432 standard
Meets the functional requirements of the sector
Water, grease, or sauce resistance
Suitable for food contact
Can withstand temperatures up to 200°C
Time-saving when disposing of waste (no need to separate the film from the tray)
Production cost "reasonably" higher than plastic trays (to be correlated with the evolution of taxes related to the recycling of ordinary industrial waste)
Patented innovation: the unique combination of a molded cellulose tray and a compostable certified bioplastic waterproof film
In 2020, Cellulopack created the first recyclable and industrially compostable molded pulp B5 tray for Frais Emincés, a specialist in fresh fruit and vegetable processing for 20 years and the French leader in fresh-cut products.
This tray, made in France, is now available in supermarket shelves.
Sealable, it allows for the preservation of fresh products in the tray for up to 10 days.
Fresh salads, pre-cut fruits and vegetables, deli meats, and sliced cheeses... This recyclable tray (paper-cardboard stream) is covered with an OK-Compost certified liner, providing a high level of grease and water resistance.
It adapts to all ultra-fresh needs with its standard B5 size (230x146x50 mm).
In accordance with the Anti-Waste for a Circular Economy Law (Article 77): "Starting from January 1, 2022, any retail business displaying fresh, unprocessed fruits and vegetables for sale is required to present them without any packaging made, in whole or in part, from plastic materials."
In addition to compliance with this regulation, the high-density molded cellulose fruit trays produced by the Cellulopack team offer an optimal premium finish and provide significant storage and transportation savings compared to trays made from expanded polystyrene (EPS) or conventional cellulose.
At Cellulopack, we specialize in tailored support.
We design and develop formats and types of trays with our clients based on their specific needs and specifications. To do this, it will obviously be necessary to invest in a mold tailored to your dimensions.
To carry out a feasibility study and an initial price estimate, contact us and provide the following information:
A plan or sketch of the cutting shape (or photos of similar products you may have identified)
Desired dimensions: Height, Width, and Depth
A complete description of the final product's use: Best Before Date (BBD), food contact, required level of sealability, storage conditions, or any other information you think is useful for us to design the best product for you.
